Volunteer Spotlight - Rennica Huang
In the bustling heart of Chapel Hill, amidst the community she calls home, Rennica Huang shines brightly as a longtime volunteer at Family House. A native of Chapel Hill and a proud graduate of East Chapel Hill High School's class of 2019, Rennica’ s journey has been one of desiring to serve others.
After graduating from high school, Rennica attended Duke University, where she pursued her passion for biology and graduated in 2023. She is currently applying for medical school to study as an OBGYN and volunteering at Family House helped to inspire her toward this goal.
For the past five years, she has volunteered at Family House. Rennica’ s warm smile and gentle demeanor graced the front desk on Sundays, where she would attend to the needs of guests, entering referrals and ensuring every guest felt welcomed and cared for.
One instance stands out as a testament to Rennica’ s commitment to our guests: When she learned that a guest was struggling and desiring a small comfort—a Pepsi—Rennica didn't hesitate but ran out to purchase a Pepsi for this guest. It’s a simple gesture that speaks volumes about her empathy and willingness to go above and beyond to help our guests.
When asked about her favorite aspect of volunteering at Family House, Rennica responds. "It feels like you are home, and it's a place to destress and find community, but by far, the best part is being part of a great community.”
In Rennica Huang, Family House has found a shining example of selflessness and kindness. Her commitment to serving others, coupled with her energy, brings a gentle light to those in need of compassion. Best of Luck Rennica!
