Guest Spotlight —Floyd Doss

Floyd Doss is a “semi-retired” fire captain. Hailing from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, he’s been a guest at Family House on and off for the past two years. During his most recent visit, tests were done, including several MRIs to get a closer look at some spots on his liver. Dr. Barrett and his team at UNC Hospitals gastrointestinal department were going to use this information to develop a preventative treatment plan for Floyd.

With lots on his mind, Floyd told us how important it is to be surrounded by the unfailing and constant support he’s received here, from Debbie, his wife of 51 years, and their son, Eric.

When asked what staying here has meant to him and his family, Floyd shared, “I give Family House a 10. The rooms are clean. We feel safe. We eat well. I feel like the staff will do anything in the world for you. It’s a blessing to have this place, get good quality care at the hospital and you don’t have to worry about the problems at a motel.”

We wish Floyd all very best and look forward to our next chat with him.
