On a recent early morning while the hot sun was beaming and the temperature was rising, the facilities crew from UNC’s Department of Athletics spread several cubic yards of mulch around our grounds. They worked quickly and efficiently: no sooner had they started spreading the much, and the job was done.

Led by their warm and friendly leader, Bobby Gales, Director of Facility Maintenance, this was the second year in a row that the facilities crew has spent part of their morning volunteering at Family House. Mike Bunting, System Athletic Director for Facility Planning, and Bobby both say volunteer service is a great team building activity and morale booster. Their crew gets a great deal of satisfaction doing their part for the Chapel Hill community. 

UNC’s facilities crew plays an integral role on campus, maintaining 13 athletic facilities for 27 sports. We thank them for sharing their skills and community service time by adding to the beauty of Family House.
