Brian Stabler
Brian Stabler was an incredible champion for the Family House mission. Through his advocacy efforts with the State Employee’s Credit Union (SECU), he was instrumental in Family House becoming the inaugural grantee of the newly established SECU Foundation - receiving an incredible $2 Million in 2004. These funds were vital in making Family House a reality.
Brian served Family House as one of the earliest members of the Board of Directors, but his true love was interacting with our guests and volunteers. A long-time cancer survivor, Brian understood what other patients and their caregivers were going through and could be seen engaging with guests regularly throughout the House. He was a learned optimist and believed deeply in the healing power of a nurturing environment. Select common areas in our Pine Wing embody this mindset, thanks to Brian's efforts, featuring two large, vibrant pieces of art that bring beauty and warmth to everyone who enters.
Brian gave generously of himself throughout his life and also left a legacy gift for the House and our guests when he passed. There is no doubt that without Brian, Family House would not be the same.
