SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals

Our Mission

SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals provides an affordable, safe, nurturing home away
from home for seriously ill patients, their family members, and caregivers from throughout
North Carolina and beyond.

In 2009 alone, SECU Family House and its volunteers housed, fed, and embraced more than 1,400 patients and/or patient families—from 92 of North Carolina’s 100 counties, 32 other states, the District of Columbia, and 3 other countries. Since opening March 31, 2008, SECU Family House has provided 53,635 guest stays.

We work in close coordination with the medical staff at UNC Hospitals to ensure that critical care patients and families have easy access to peaceful, home-like surroundings in which to rest, heal, recuperate, and gather strength for an arduous treatment regimen.
